Cayuse IRB FAQs

Cayuse IRB FAQs

Q. What is Cayuse IRB?

A. The Cayuse Institutional Review Board (IRB) module is an easy-to-use system for electronically preparing, submitting, and routing studies for IRB approval. All information is stored in the cloud and can be accessed securely from any location, making it simple for multiple simultaneous users to view and share documents. Users receive electronic notifications whenever an action is required on their part, allowing the study to proceed smoothly through each step of the process from study creation to final approval.

Q. Who has access to Cayuse IRB?

A. Anyone with a UCMNet ID can obtain access to Cayuse IRB.  If you are a faculty, student or staff and find that you are not able to access Cayuse IRB, please contact the IRB Office.

Q. Who can submit protocols in Cayuse IRB?

A. Any of the study personnel can submit within Cayuse IRB but must ensure they delete themselves as PI (if not the PI) and appropriately identify the PI. If someone other than the PI submits the study, the PI will still be responsible for signing into Cayuse IRB and certifying the protocol.

Q. How do I receive updates regarding my Cayuse IRB submissions?

Cayuse IRB will send notifications on submissions, including initial submission, status, approval and renewal notices, via email from irboffice@ucmerced.edu.  It is important to pay attention to these emails to ensure processing and approval of your study.

Q. Can I initiate multiple submissions (ex: Modification and Renewal) for the same study at the same time?

A. The system will not allow multiple submissions on a single study at the same time.

Q. Where can I get help with Cayuse IRB?

A. Evisions created a Cayuse IRB help page.  You can find the help page at this link.  You may also contact the IRB Office at any time.
